We are now launching Import Open Timetable Data in FRIDA – an important step in our ambition to make FRIDA more integrated into the public transport sector’s digital ecosystem.
In FRIDA, routes, stops, and geographical areas are used to link vehicle inspections to contracts and to register traffic incidents. Previously, these registers had to be maintained manually – but with Import Open Timetable Data, this now happens automatically.
Through a direct connection to Samtrafiken, FRIDA continuously retrieves the public transport authority’s open timetable data via Trafiklab.
After each import, the data is analyzed and FRIDA flags any changes that need to be handled manually in order to ensure data quality.
The result: a quality-assured register of routes and stops – with minimal manual work.
Trafiklab is a national platform for open data in public transport, coordinated by Samtrafiken. There, timetables, stops, and other datasets from all over Sweden are made available – an important foundation for innovation, analysis, and integration.
“We are pleased to see how our open data via Trafiklab is being used to streamline and automate the work of public transport authorities. FRIDA’s integration with Trafiklab is an excellent example of how open data can create concrete benefits for both authorities and passengers. With this, the foundation is also laid for future development of publishing vehicle characteristics for planned traffic in Trafiklab, the national access point for open public transport data.”
– Håkan Östlund, Service Manager for Data Management at Samtrafiken
“This is an important piece of the puzzle in the development of the next generation of FRIDA – where contracts, follow-up, and operational data come together in one unified whole.”
– Olle Düring, CEO of Nordic Port AB
